Gradebook Placeholders

In order to help with gradebook organization, we have added the ability for teachers to use grade placeholders in individual grade cells. These placeholders have no effect on the final or grading period grades, but can be used to keep track of who is excused from specific assignments.

Assessment Submission Review

Until now, teachers had to choose between not allowing students so see their responses to an assessment or revealing the correct answers. Teachers can now choose to show students how they performed without giving away the correct answer, allowing them to re-take the test/quiz. To use this submission review mode, select “Yes” for “View Submissions” on the assessment settings tab.

Resource Sharing

In addition to having the ability to share resources with people in your network, users who have the “Allow user to share collections” permission can now choose to share a collection with anyone in his/her school.

Flash Uploader Fallback

We use a flash uploader to allow multiple uploads at a time and to show upload progress. However, users with certain setups might experience trouble with this uploader, particularly those behind a proxy. If you continuously get errors with the default uploader, you can opt to use the basic uploader, which can only upload one file at a time for maximum compatibility across platforms and networks.

Other improvements

  • Correct answers are denoted when on the question statistics page for a test/quiz.
  • When specific grading periods are selected on a grade report, assignments in unselected grading periods will not affect the final grade. This can be particularly useful when exporting grades for the previous quarter or semester.

I am hopeful that the new exempt feature will be available for online tests/quizes too. Thanks.

It would be really nice to have a quick poll feature similar to that on edmodo.  Also, it would be great if my students could send me a message with an attached file.

    Hello Miolson –
Thank you for the suggestion about the quick polls, we will make sure to keep that in mind as we move forward with our site updates. As long as the students have permission to send messages though, they should be able to attach files and links to them. If this is an issue for you please reach out to us at http://bit.ly/w5VFGt so that we can help you further.
    Thanks,
    Cassandra
